A single mother caring for a child with a chronic respiratory illness, Amber wanted a better life. Having raised her child since birth with very little or no support from the child's father, Amber was familiar with handling large responsibilities. Unemployed and lacking any substantial work history, she went to the Blair County Community Action Agency. Amber designated three goals she wanted to achieve; to find a full-time sustaining job, to enter nursing school, and to purchase a good car. Amber's hard work and dedication have paid off. Amber used money she saved in an escrow account BCCAA helped her set up to buy a car. She is also enrolled at Penn State while working at a full-time job.
